Born in the mountains of Puerto Rico, but raised on the streets of Brooklyn during the civil rights era, I learned at an early age that we create our own realities, not from our immediate geographical environs or in the context of our socio-economic circumstances, but rather in the richness and complexity of the worlds we create within. It is only there that we are ever authentically ourselves.
